The local high school sports schedule will ease back into action today before really getting busy Thursday.
There are only four events taking place today as the students also return to classes after their two-week layoff.
In high school bowling action, Chautauqua Lake travels to Randolph as the boys team looks to snag its first win of the season.
On the wrestling mats, Dunkirk will host CCAA Division 1 foe Olean after a busy weekend of hosting the Dunkirk Marauder Invitational Dual Meet Wrestling Tournament.
Hector Colom went 8-2 in that meet while wrestling at both 99 and 106 pounds. Adrian Alvarado also had a lot of success with a 5-1 record at 195 pounds. Tito Colom matched his brother’s 8-2 mark wrestling at 113 pounds.
All three wrestlers will look to continue their success in the new year.
Ripley/Westfield/Chautauqua Lake wrestling will also host a meet as Falconer comes to Ripley.
In the lone basketball game tonight, the North Collins Lady Eagles travel to take on Cattaraugus-Little Valley.
On Thursday the action really heats up with a plethora of different events.
Dunkirk and Fredonia both host swim meets with the Marauders taking on Olean while the Hillbillies welcome Panama to their pool.
The Ripley/Westfield/Chautauqua Lake wrestling team will compete for the second day in a row when they travel to take on the Southwestern Trojans.
The boys high school basketball calendar is packed with great matchups Thursday evening.
In CCAA Division 1 action, the Marauders will welcome Falconer to Dunkirk with what promises to be a tight contest. Fredonia, meanwhile, makes the trip out to Allegany-Limestone to take on the Gators. Gowanda gets to stay at home to take on the Trojans of Southwestern.
In Division 2, Silver Creek will look to continue its red-hot start to the season with a trip to Cassadaga Valley.
Division 3 will see a pair of good matchups with Forestville traveling to Westfield and Pine Valley taking to the road against Panama.
In bowling action, Brocton plays host to Clymer.
