Accident sends teen to hospital

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Stebbins Road in the town of Hanover Tuesday for the report of a car accident.

Investigation revealed a 17-year-old female from Silver Creek was operating the vehicle westbound on Stebbins Road and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle struck a stump and some small trees, rolled and came to rest on its wheels on a lawn.

The driver was transported by a private vehicle to Lake Shore Hospital with minor injuries.

According to a report speed not safe for conditions appeared to contribute to the accident. No charges were listed.

Dunkirk man charged with DWI

Early New Year’s morning, David J. Frank, 21, of Dunkirk was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent, moving from lane unsafely, unlicensed driver, and unregistered vehicle.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a suspicious situation on Roberts Road in the Town of Dunkirk. During the investigation, a vehicle operated by Frank was located in a snowbank at the end of the road. Officers reported that Frank was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was detained without incident and released with traffic tickets. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Dunkirk Court at a later date.

State police at Fredonia detain man on drug charges

On Friday, Justin Pelsey, 20, of McAllister Road in Fredonia was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Troopers originally stopped Pelsey after he reportedly had an inadequate turn signal on State Route 60 in Pomfret. Troopers stated he was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Pelsey is scheduled to answer charges in the Town of Pomfret Court on Jan. 8.
