Donna P. Meder
STOCKTON – Donna P. Meder, 78, of Stockton, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at home.
Born Jan. 5, 1935 in Randolph, daughter of the late George Clare and Evelyn Johnson Phillips. She was a 1953 graduate of Randolph Central School.
Donna and her husband owned and operated Char-Don Farms in Stockton. She was also employed at Big E Bank and O.G.L.S./Atlas Energy L.P.
Donna was an active member of the Red Cross of Southwestern New York for over 15 years, serving as volunteer emergency services coordinator. She responded to numerous national disasters, including 911 and Katrina. A past member of the Cassadaga Valley Central School Board for over 20 years, she served as President for 10 years. She was also a member of the BOCES Board for 10 years and the Chautauqua County School Board Association, serving as President from 1982-1984. She was honored as “Friend of Education” in 1996. She was also a member of the Cassadaga Valley Kiwanis Club, Stockton Firemen’s Auxiliary, Chautauqua County Farm Bureau and New Horizon’s Senior Band. Donna was a long-time member of the Stockton Community Church, where she served as a member of the choir and treasurer.
Donna enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family with special attention to her grand and great-grandchildren.
Donna was the wife of 60 years to Charlie Meder, whom she married Nov. 23, 1952; mother of James, Rick (Debby), Bryan (Michelle Dloniak), Don (Colleen), Bob (Becky), Mark (Kim) and the late Bill Meder; grandmother of Elizabeth (Mike) Starks, Kevin (Molly) and Kelly Labby, Brittany Woodard, Jaime (Jon) Garigal, Kathy (Ty) Parmentier, Kimberly (Jared) Oehlbeck, James, Ashley, Trevor, Brandi, D.J. (Christa), Daniel, JoAnna, Joseph, Zachary and Jacob Meder; great-grandmother of 18; sister of Joseph and twin brother Donald (Sandy) Phillips, Anita Kent and the late Clara Baldwin and Betty Phillips; and sister in law of Judy (Daniel) Ray. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Stockton Community Church Fellowship Hall, 10 W. Railroad Ave., Stockton. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Stockton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Red Cross Southwestern, NY Chapter or the Stockton Community Church.
