Balanced attack leads Silver Creek to victory

CATTARAUGUS – Ten of 12 players scored for the Silver Creek Black Knights (5-3, 3-1), as they dropped Cattaraugus-Little Valley (0-4), 68-25, in CCAA Division 2 girls basketball Tuesday night.

“We cleared our bench by halftime,” Silver Creek head coach Tammy Rice said. “All of the girls on the team got in, but we had a slow start to the third quarter for sure.”

The third quarter was the only one the Black Knights didn’t score at least 10 points, as they managed only one field goal. They scored 16 in the first, built a 40-14 lead at the break with a 24-point second quarter, and scored another 16 over the final eight minutes to get to 68 on the night. The Lady Timberwolves on the other hand scored four points in the first, seven in the second, six in the third and eight in the fourth.

“We played a better first half than we did in the second half,” Rice said. “I think (Cattaraugus-Little Valley) had some open shots, some of them they just missed. We played good defense, but we could have played better.”

Jordan Brooks led the Black Knights with a game-high 24 points to go with nine rebounds and five blocks while Jade Lewis chipped in 12 points, eight assists and five steals. Marissa Donovan added eight points and seven rebounds in the win while Dylanne Seeley scored six.

Kaylee Eaton had a team-high seven points for the Lady Timberwolves while Ashley Harvey scored six points.
