Shots dont fall for Ripley in 54-33 loss to West Valley

RIPLEY – Mike Grigsby had a game-high 11 points as West Valley kept Ripley (0-7, 0-4) winless Tuesday night after beating the Eagles, 54-33, during CCAA Division 4 boys basketball action.

“We were getting all the shots I wanted,” Ripley head coach Adam Chambers said. “They were running the offense like I wanted against the 3-2 zone (defense), they just couldn’t put it in the hoop.”

The teams played to an 8-8 tie after the first quarter, before West Valley built a 26-18 lead at the break. The second half didn’t get much better for the Eagles, as the Wild Cats outscored them 20-11 in the third and 8-4 in the fourth.

Cody Rader had nine points to lead Ripley’s offense while Trevor Hauser added seven points, six rebounds and four steals in the loss. Vinny Shioleno chipped in eight points, five rebounds and four steals for the Eagles.
