Mary Sikora of Dunkirk, NY died Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2013) at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk.
She was 90 years of age, born in Toledo, Ohio, on July 16, 1922, the daughter of the late Walter and Helen (Schultz) Lentz.
A resident of Dunkirk for the past 88 years, Mrs. Sikora was a homemaker. She was a former employee of Van Raalte. An excellent baker, Mary was especially known for her Christmas cookies.
She was a member of Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish – St. Hyacinth Church and the Our Lady of Fatima Society of that parish.
Surviving are her daughter, Bernadette “Bonnie” (John) Kawski of Dunkirk; two grandsons, Scott Kawski and Thomas (Sally) Kawski, both of Fredonia; four great grandchildren, Macy Kawski, Samuel Kawski, Zackary Kawski and Francesca Sysol; and her sisters, Emily Kuzara and Jackleen (Alex) Uszacki, both of Dunkirk. Nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stanley J. Sikora, who died June 11, 2001; three brothers, Leonard, Frederick and Chester Lentz; and her sister, Irene Sprague.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:15 from the Newman Funeral Home Inc. fol-lowed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o’clock in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish – St. Hyacinth’s Church. Interment will fol-low in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Friday. The Our Lady of Fatima will recite the rosary at 6:30 P.M. Friday. Flowers gratefully declined. The family suggests memorials be made to the Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Sunshine Committee.
