Sandra R. Pogorzelski
Sandra R. Pogorzelski, 75, of Dunkirk died on her 75th birthday (Jan. 11, 2013) after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 11,
1938 in Buffalo, the daughter of Helen (Estergome) Patti of Dunkirk and the late Dr. Samuel R. Patti. A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Sandra retired from Park Shore Nursing Home (Margaret Anthony Nursing Home) where she worked for over 20 years caring for the elderly. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and the Navy Club Auxiliary of Silver Creek. Sandy always had a smile on her face and enjoyed talking on the phone with friends and family. She was
a caring and compassionate friend who was always there when she was needed. She was an angel here on earth. Sandy was a devoted mother to her daughter Lisa. She enjoyed boating and sitting on the boat with her husband, Raymond; shopping and spending time with her five grandchildren, who were
her greatest pride and joy. She took great pride in decorating her home for the holidays. Not a holiday went by without her decorating her door and
windows. She enjoyed her dog Casey who gave her many hours of companionship. She also enjoyed collecting earrings of all shapes and sizes.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by daughters, Caryn (Ron) Mirek and Lisa Pogorzelski, both of Dunkirk; her daughter-in- law, Brenda (Pogorzelski) Chmura of Dunkirk; grandchildren, Haley Mirek and Calan Pogorzelski of Dunkirk, Ryan Pogorzelski and Laken Pogorzelski of Buffalo, and Nathan Pogorzelski of California; and nieces, Virginia (Scott) Kawski of Erie, Pa. and Jill (Steve) Snow of North Carolina. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by
her husband, Raymond Pogorzelski who died July 11, 2003; and her son, Raymond Pogorzelski Jr., in 2004. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours
