Paul A. Luciano
Paul A. Luciano, born Aug. 5, 1937 in Erie, Pa, formerly of Fredonia, died in the company of loved ones, on Dec. 19, 2012 following an extended illness at his home in Summerfield, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony M. and Hazel (Mang) Luciano and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include his loving wife Rita of Summerfield, Fla.; siblings Nicholas and Donna of Erie, Pa; and his six children: Debra (Lance) Luciano Lewis and Paul (Kristina) Luciano Jr., both of Columbus Ohio; Linda (Richard) Orloff of Stockton; Richard Luciano of Vernal, Utah; Amy (Sean) Hall of Silver Creek; Annette (Rick) Spearman of Freeville, NY.
He will also be missed by his ten grandchildren: Megan and Jessica Swan, Paul Luciano III, Melanie Luciano, Nathan Luciano, Lauren and Keenan Lewis, Sadie, Andrew and Benjamin Spearman, as well as a nephew Joseph Maxwell and his former wife Diane (Moran) Cybulski.
A jazz sax and clarinetist, he had played for many clubs and events in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area throughout the 1960s and 1970s with his band, the Paul Lewis Combo. He operated Luciano Band Instrument Sales and Repair of Dunkirk, N.Y. After relocating to Central Florida, he had the opportunity to play with Warren Covington, Julius La Rosa and the Guy Lombardo Orchestra, as well as lead the Paul Lciano Big Band and play in other bands. He loved to go on cruise vacations, and to beaches and amusement parks with his kids and grandkids. Although music was his lifelong passion, he said that his wealth was in his family. Despite living with cancer for seven years, he attended the high school commencements of five of his grandchildren. He also provided many of them their first musical instrument.
