Lady Hillbillies capture first place
In the battle for first place, the Fredonia girls swept Jamestown 4-0, avenging a 0-4 sweep to Jamestown early in the season in CCAA Division 1 girls high school bowling.
Fredonia’s linescore read 733-781-823-2,337 while Jamestown shot a 718-726-720-2,164.
High rollers for Fredonia (29-7) were Maitland Langworthy with a 195-196-526 while Marionna Wiltsie had a 180. Haley Zebraski bowled a 172 for the winners.
High roller for Jamestown (26-10) was Andraya Vazquez with a 198-172-515. Morgan Melquist added a 166 in defeat.
“It was a good team effort for the Fredonia girls,” Fredonia coach Roger Pacos said. ” We had two of our starters missing due to the flu. The girls stepped up. Our spare shooting was solid and that won the match.”
In the boys’ match, Jamestown prevailed, 3-1.
Jamestown shot a 939-813-856-2,608 while Fredonia managed a 803-790-872-2,465.
High rollers for Jamestown (23-13) included Brandon Propheter with a 236-226-629 and Eddie Merwick with a 236. Chris Moynihan had a 215 and Chad Warner bowled a 187.
For Fredonia (12-24), Jeff Rowe charted a 206 while Andrew Conti had a 195. Nate Manning finished with a 189 and Ricky Burgstrom charted a 186.
Panthers sweep Trojans
GOWANDA – Gowanda’s boys and girls bowling teams both swept CCAA Division 1 foe Southwestern, Monday at K & L Lanes.
In boys action, Gowanda put together an impressive team linescore of 1,014-1,043-1,032-3,089 to beat Southwestern’s of 853-920-823-2,596.
Justin Grimm had the high series for the Panthers with games of 234, 267 and 239 for a 740 series. Jake Hansen-Ivett added a 220 game while Eric Chimino (215) and Jarred Krejewski (207) each had nice games as well.
Blake Schrope led Southwestern with a 202-194-164-560.
On the girls side, Gowanda’s line of 741-726-699-2,166 was good enough to sweep Southwestern’s 645-621-574-1,840.
The Lady Panthers (26-10) were led by Brittnee Stelley’s 177-169-193-539. Danielle Lesefski added games of 152 and 163 while Malyssa Farley chipped in with a 160 game.
Amanda Stewart’s 145-169-139-453 was tops for the Lady Trojans (10-26). Breanna Nelson added a 167 game.
Brocton improves to 37-7
Brocton improved to 37-7 for the season with a 4-0 sweep of Chautauqua Lake at Lucky Lanes in Division 2 action.
The Bulldogs produced an 844-861-792-2,497 team total and the Thunderbirds rolled 519-474-481-1,474.
John Nickerson rolled 245-227-643 to lead Brocton while Andy Morello had 205 and 174 and Steve Krystofiak tossed games of 184 and 179.
For Chautauqua Lake, Dakota Barrows led the way with 145-346.
