Hillbillies avenge loss to Trojans

JAMESTOWN – Fredonia avenged a loss earlier in the season by downing Southwestern, 91-81, Thursday in a CCAA Division 1 swimming and diving meet at Southwestern High School.

Reed Porterfield was once again a double winner for the Hillbillies with wins in the 200 individual medley (2:19.66) and the 100 breaststroke (1:04.76). In the breaststroke, he narrowly held off Southwestern’s Jordan Powers at the finish.

Trystan Meyer continued his recent roll with a victory in the 100 butterfly (1:04.03) while Jacob Brown earned another first-place finish for Fredonia in the 50 freestyle (:24.75).

Liam Rankin (110.55 points) and Evan McAfee took first and second in the diving competition for the Hillbillies.

Alex Beckerink was a double winner for Southwestern with victories in the 200 freestyle (2:09.66) and 500 freestyle (5:40.13).
