Brocton Teachers’ Association chooses Students of the Month

BROCTON – The Brocton Teachers’ Association announces the Students of the Month for December.

The middle school Student of the Month is eighth-grader Lillyan Fuentes daughter of Nathan and Robin Fuentes of Brocton. Lillyan is on the yearbook staff, modified basketball team, and a cheerleader. She is also in the school band, chorus and participates in the school musicals. Outside of school, Lillyan enjoys reading, drawing, playing video games and takes karate. In addition to the above, she is an honor roll student. Her future plans are to become a tattoo artist and her favorite classes are art and English.

The high school student of the month is junior Tyler DeJoe, son of Jason and Kelly Jo DeJoe of Brocton. He is a high honor roll student, writer for the Brocton Review, band member, vice president of the chorus, president of the Student Council, treasurer for the drama club, National Honor Society member and a member of the Envirothon team. Outside of school, he plays ice hockey for the Fredonia Steelers, takes mixed martial arts at Elevation Combat Sports Academy, a Civil War reenactor, member of the Civil Air Patrol of the Air Force Auxillary, an avid archery and firearms hunter, and a member of the JCC Uncommoners. He was named the 2011 Cadet of the Year and the 2012 Noncommissioned Officer of the Year by the Civil Air Patrol Jamestown Composite Squadron. Tyler plans to attend either the US Air Force Academy or the Virginia Military Institute and would then like to receive his commission as a second lieutenant in the Air Force.
