Relay For Life kicking off 15th annual event in a ‘Big’ way

On Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. relayers from across Northern Chautauqua County will gather for the official event kickoff at the First United Methodist Church, 25 Church St. in Fredonia.

Current and past team captains, survivors, sponsors and anyone interested in learning more about becoming involved in Relay For Life are invited to attend the event which will honor the top fundraising teams of the 2012 Relay and introduce the 2013 theme, which according to Event Co-Chair Cathy Gilvin, is a pretty ‘big’ deal.

“Big, Big, Big – This year’s national Relay theme is “Dream Big, Hope Big, Relay Big.” We all have big dreams and hopes for a world with no more cancer, that’s why we Relay big,” Gilvin explains. “Come join us!”

“2013 is a big year for us,” said Kate Hinds Morrison, Marketing and Public Relations Chair. “This is our 15th annual Relay For Life and we’re excited for everyone to join us for another amazing Relay season.”

This year’s event will be held June 8 at the SUNY Fredonia track. For more information regarding the Relay For Life of Dunkirk/Fredonia or for cancer information, contact your American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit online at
