Seniors have fun despite frightful weather

WESTFIELD – The seniors and staff are trying to fight the winter blahs at Westfield Senior Day Program by being creative. On Friday, Jan.18, the group made necklaces out of hardware store washers, decorated with finger nail polish and hung on ribbon with a bead. The necklaces do not smell as good as the corsages donated for the Adult Day Care Christmas program by the Four Seasons Flower shop, but they are still pretty.

Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc., a non-profit United Way agency, offers senior day programs for adults 60 years of age and older who live in the community. The agency has four sites that serve all of Chautauqua County. The programs provide socialization and offer opportunities for older adults to participate in during the day. The sites provide breakfast, snack and a noon-time meal for participants. There is also a community recreation program that helps people participate in outings in the community, and the sites offer pet therapy, ceramics, music programs and arts and crafts on an ongoing basis.

Funding is available. For more information, visit seniordayprograms.com or call 326-6842 in Westfield or 366-8786 in Dunkirk.
