James Kolpien of Ripley NY, died Wednesday, Jan-uary 23, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie PA after a short illness.
He was born Feb. 11, 1945 in Ripley, NY the son of the late Herbert Bly and Mabel (Lamphert) Kolpien.
Mr. Kolpien had previously worked for Landsmith Cherry Corp. of Ripley, NY. His last place of employment was in the maintenance department of the Ripley School System.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Westfield.
Survivors include his wife, Jean F. (Nichols) Kolpien, whom he married June 13, 1970 in Westfield, NY; one daughter, Brenda (Christopher) McKelvey of Fredonia; one son, LeRoy Kolpien of Dunkirk; one brother, Roger (Cindy) Kolpien of Westfield, NY; one sister, Marion Waters of Ripley, NY; three grand-sons, Samuel Bly McKelvey, Benjamin and Elijah McKelvey; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Kolpien, of Ripley, NY.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Vince Sanzo officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service and may call at the Mathews Funeral Home, 104 West Main St., Ripley, NY Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. Interment East Ripley Cemetery. Donations in Mr. Kolpien’s memory may be made to the Ripley Fire Department or the American Cancer Society.
