Waterline break on SUNY Fredonia campus

OBSERVER Staff Report

David Herman, Vice President for Student Affairs, notified students on the SUNY Fredonia campus of waterline break Sunday. The break is in a major 6-inch line that is about 14 feet underground.

According to the announcement, water was to be shut off at the affected area, the Andrews Residence Complex (Hemingway, Hendrix, Igoe, and Schultz residence halls) Sunday at 8 p.m. Herman expected the water to be shut off for about 24 hours, but more will known after the contractor reaches the pipe.

He detailed the options for restrooms and showers in the meantime. In addition, porta potties would be placed outside each of the affected residences. Maps of the alternate arrangements were available and water bottles were issued to students.

More information will be relayed to the students through email when that information is available. Students with questions were advised to contact their resident assistant, resident director, or night desk attendant.
