Refrigeration/air conditioning classes begin Feb. 5

The Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES Adult & Community Education Division will offer evening classes in the area of Refrigeration/Air Conditioning beginning Feb. 5 at the Carrier Educational Center in Angola.

The 30-hour Refrigera-tion/Air Conditioning Level 1 introductory course, taught by instructor Chuck Fafara, will take place at the Carrier Center on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning Feb. 5. Students will learn the basics about refrigeration systems as well as the tools and service procedures used by refrigeration mechanics. The registration fee for the class is $350.

The Carrier Center is located at 8685 Erie Road in Angola.

Gas prices rise

Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have risen 0.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.67/g Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 319 gas outlets in Rochester. This compares with the national average that has increased 4.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.31/g, according to gasoline price website

Including the change in gas prices in Rochester during the past week, prices Sunday were 4.6 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 0.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 4.5 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 6.7 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.

Andrew Goodell to appear on Senior Report Saturday

Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Andrew Goodell as the guest on Saturday’s television program.

Goodell is assemblyman for the New York State 150th district.

The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out.

The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities.

Reed Powers, host of Senior Report, has been producing the television program since 1995.

The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest.

The guest is subject to change.

Senior Report is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Hanover, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19.

The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.
