Melissa S. Utley Dispenza
AMHERST – Melissa S. Utley Dispenza, age 54, of Hendricks Blvd., Amherst passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident in Buffalo.
She was born in Gowanda, NY on March 21, 1958, the daughter of Richard L. and Marilyn A. (Jack) Utley.
A 1976 graduate of Gowanda Central School, Melissa attended Brockport State and then transferred to Buffalo State receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Missy married Paul Dispenza on July 17, 1993 at St. Benedict’s RC Church in Amherst; Paul survives.
Melissa currently was employed with Rich Products of Buffalo. At the time of her death, she worked in the Research and Development Dept. Melissa had been employed with Rich Products for 28 years.
A member of St. Benedict’s RC Church in Amherst, Melissa also was a Eucharistic Minister of the church. While handing out Communion, at times she believed that she could see Jesus in the eyes of the people she was giving the Body of Christ to, a revelation she shared with her husband Paul.
Surviving, besides her husband Paul, are her children Samantha and Michael Dispenza at home; her father Richard L. Utley of Gowanda;, sisters Mrs. Steven (Deborah) Germano of Syracuse, Mrs. Kenneth (Melinda) Hammond of Clayton NC, Mrs. Ronald (Alison) Connolly of Springville, Mrs. Antho-
ny (Jennifer) Comstock of Gowanda, Mrs. Adam (Andrea) Gandler of Mt. Laurel, NJ; several nieces and nephews also survive along with brother in-law Lee Dispenza.
Melissa is preceded in death by her mother Marilyn A. (Jack) Utley; her infant daughter Elissa Christabelle Angel Dispenza, her in-laws Bernard and Nancy Dispenza; along with a baby sister.
Friends may call at the Dengler Roberts and Perna Funeral Home, 2070 Eggert Rd. Amherst from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. on Friday Feb. 1, 2013. Melissa’s funeral will be held Saturday February 2, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Benedict’s RC Church, 1317 Eggert Rd. Amherst, NY (gather at church). Fr. Joe Porpiglia of St. Joseph’s RC Church, Gowanda will be the celebrant. Arrangements are by the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda, NY
