DHS competes at Lancaster

LANCASTER – Dunkirk’s Calan Pogorzelski finished the 600-meter event in a time of 1:51, which was good enough for second place Saturday at Lancaster High School, during boys and girls high school indoor track and field.

Pogorzelski also finished seventh in the 300 in a time of :48.5 and helped the 4×200 relay team to a third-place finish in a time of 2:07.5. Joining Pogorzelski were Natalie Nytz, Roseangelica Montalban and Lisa Dunbar.

Meanwhile, Dunbar finished fourth in the pole vault at 8-feet, 6-inches. Dunbar, along with Emilee Hanlon, qualified for the Sectional meet in the 50 in times of 7.1 seconds.

In the boys’ meet, Kevin Morales finished fourth in the 600 (1:34.2) and was a part of the 4×200 relay team that placed second in a time of 1:46.5. Joining Morales were Nick Barlette, Verek Nixon and Nick Stolinski.

The 4×800 relay team, comprised of Ray Tarnowski, Ethan Francis, Javier Soto and Morales, finished fourth in a time of 9:26.6. Barlette was sixth in the 50 in a 6.3 seconds while Nixon crossed the finish line in 6.4 seconds.

Rashad Graham took third in the high jump for the Marauders with a height of 5-8. The height qualified him for the Sectional meet.

Dunkirk will be at Fredonia State next Saturday to race in the Varsity Challenge.
