Llewellyn A. Harvey

SILVER CREEK – Llewellyn A. “Lew” Harvey, 74, of Silver Creek, NY died Thursday (Feb. 7, 2013) at the Lake Shore Nursing Home in Irving, NY, surrounded by his family.

He was born Feb. 23, 1938 in Silver Creek, NY, the son of the late Howard B. and Carol (Norder) Harvey.

A Silver Creek resident all his life, Lew served with tthe U.S. Navy on the USS Mitcher and the USS Cascade from Oct. 12, 1955 until he was honorably discharged on Sept. 16, 1958.

A member of the Buffalo Carpenter’s Union, Lew worked as a carpenter for the Marion Pagano Construction Co. in Silver Creek for a number of years, and was a self-employed carpenter until his retirement.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 148 in Silver Creek where he served with their “Honor Guard” and was very proud to acknowledge his fellow comrades.

He enjoyed anything that had to do with woodworking, building and working with his hands. Family was very important to him, especially his grandchil-dren.

Survivors include his wife of more than 52 years, Carolyn E. (Cumbee) Harvey, whom he married Nov. 23, 1960 ; two sons, Joseph E. Harvey of Forestville and Howard B. (Michelle) of Silver Creek; two daughters, C. Renee (Sam) Azzarella of Silver Creek and Julia E. (Jeff) Alguire of Silver Creek; five grandchildren, Nicole R. (Dale Jr.) Miller, Brian J. (Ashley) Azzarella, Paul R. Alguire, Ryan A. and Jacob A. Harvey; and five great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Harvey.

Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the time of services at noon with Rev. Robert Sheldon officiating. Burial will be private.
