SEAS Parish plans Lenten events

SEAS Parish in Dunkirk will sponsor the following Lenten events:

During Lent, there will again be the Soup and Scripture series led by Father Dennis and Dan Hillman. The first 10 chapters of St. John’s Gospel will be discussed in this six-week series. The text is entitled “I Am the Bread of Life.” Sessions will be held in the Rectory Meeting Room beginning Wednesday, Feb. 20 and for five successive Wednesdays at 7 p.m. preceded by a soup and bread supper at 6:15 p.m. (No desserts). Note: maximum of 30 participants, so call the Rectory at 366-1750, as soon as possible. There is no charge, except $8 for the book.

The SEAS bishop has announced this is a year of faith for all Catholics. Parishioners are invited to a talk on this topic and its meaning for the Lenten journey. Deacon Don Weigel, of Christ the King Seminary, will be here on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Rectory Meeting Room to speak to the group about the Catholic faith. Weigel is a professor of theology at the Diocesan Seminary, Christ the King. His topic will be “The Year of Faith and the New Evangelization.” There will be a hospitality committee to assist anyone who needs a ride to the church. Call the parish office at 366-1750. Greeters will be available at the doors. Use the rectory doors for entrance. This is an opportunity for all to reflect more on their faith this Lent.
