DLDC discusses new website proposal
For those wanting to travel, a good resource for travelers is to research your destination online. For those wanting to come to the city of Dunkirk, the Visit Dunkirk website is not very attractive or informative, according to the Dunkirk Local Development Corporation.
The DLDC is looking into a proposal by Todd Bialaszewski for a redesigned website for www.visitdunkirk.com. According to Tim Gornikiewicz of the DLDC, Bialaszewski of Tractleads submitted a marketing plan for review.
In the plan, the website will be designed by Tractleads and will be mobile ready. The DLDC will own the rights to the website but the company will manage the website on a month-to-month basis for a commissioned price.
The website will have different sections for a business directory to list area businesses, city events, a calendar for noncity events and advertising space available for sale.
“We want to make it a two-piece (website), a business directory or listing as well as our events, DLDC events and also outside events, races, tournaments, garden walks …,” Gornikiewicz said. “The business directory would be a listing of all the businesses in the area.”
On the current website, there are some business listings but they do not list menus for the restaurants and some do not have any information whatsoever.
“If there is a listing, there is not much more information. If you’re in town and looking for something to eat and you can’t find information on a local restaurant. I think that’s where we can step in and help out,” Neratko said.
Gornikiewicz brought a resolution to the DLDC to allow the Festivals Committee to go forward getting more information on the project. The board wanted further information about the proposal and decided to table the matter until the next meeting. The board also welcomed two new members, Robert Fritzinger and Steve Sek.
