Knights top Lady Cougars

SINCLAIRVILLE – Things were close in the battle between Silver Creek and Cassadaga Valley on Monday night, but the Lady Black Knights had just a little bit more, thanks to a big night from Jordan Brooks to pull out a 53-44 win in CCAA Division 2 girls high school basketball.

Brooks hit a trio of 3-pointers on the way to 23 points and she completed the double-double with 18 rebounds and added five blocks.

The Lady Black Knights held a 19-13 lead at the half and the Lady Cougars (4-8, 6-11) actually cut the lead to two points at one point, but Silver Creek pulled away late in the game.

Also for the winners, Marissa Donovan had 13 points and also hit the double-double with 15 rebounds.

For the Lady Cougars, Jessie Burch led with 13 points and Shawana Miller had six rebounds.

Division 3

Panama 62, Westfield 37

PANAMA – It was Senior Recognition Night in Panama and the Lady Panthers celebrated in style, thanks to a big second and third quarter, pulling away for a 62-37 win over Westfield in CCAA Division 3 girls high school basketball.

Panama (6-5, 7-9) led by a single point, 10-9, after one quarter, then went on a 40-17 run to put things out of reach.

Brittany Lenart topped the scoring with 15 points and added six rebounds, Brionna Swanson, who was a senior honoree, scored 13 points, including six in the second quarter, and had five steals.

Allison Strickland added 10 points and Megan Conway, also a senior honoree, was the top rebounder with 10.

For the Lady Wolverines (0-10, 4-16), Nina Manzella scored eight points and collected six rebounds.
