DHS holding parent/teacher conferences Friday

Dunkirk High School will hold afternoon parent/teach-er conferences Friday from noon and 3 p.m. High school students will be released at 10:57 a.m. Afternoon vo-tech students still have classes at BOCES and transportation will be provided.

If you are unable to attend and would like to meet with your child’s teacher, call the guidance office at 366-9300 ext. 2076 to schedule an appointment.

Today’s clue for the Medallion Hunt

The President’s Day Weekend Winter Festival Annual Medallion Treasure Hunt, sponsored by The Maple Inn at Chautauqua Institution, is under way.

The 3×5-inch Treasure Hunt Medallion has been hidden in Chautauqua County on public property. Placed in plastic for its protection from the elements, the Medallion bearing the I.C.E. logo is not hidden below ground level and no higher than 6 feet above ground level. It is not hidden on any body of water or in the water.

It’s a source of fun and the fans are the proof.

Driver Safety Seminar offered Saturday

The five-hour pre-licensing and the Defensive Driving seminar is scheduled for Saturday at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 35 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood. Session times are 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Seminars are presented by Advance Driver Training staff. Limited seating per DMV guidelines; seating availability is first-come, first-served. Seminar fee is $25 when pre-registering online at www.DriverTrainingLLC.com or by calling 777-3232. Senior citizens & AARP members receive additional discount for the Defensive driving class.

Night of Wine and Song Thursday

A Valentine’s Day “Night of Wine and Song” will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Noble Winery, 8630 Hardscrabble Road, Westfield. Singer Pat Cook will entertain. Wine tasting and appetizers are included. The cost is $12.50 per person. The event benefits the Ripley Free Library. For reservations, call 736-3913.

Scoop Dinner & Wrapped Gift Auction Saturday

The Cherry Creek/Leon United Methodist Church will hold a Scoop Dinner & Wrapped Gift Auction Saturday. The dinner begins at 4:30 p.m., with the auction following at 6 p.m. Donations will be accepted. All are welcome. The church is located on Main Street in Cherry Creek.
