ALLEGANY – The Allegany-Limestone Lady Gators (9-9, 6-6) held off a game Fredonia (6-12, 5-7), 40-35, on Wednesday during the CCAA Division 1 girls basketball finale for both teams.

“I thought (Fredonia head coach Carol Zirkle’s) girls played well,” Allegany-Limestone head coach Frank Martin said. “They’re always well coached and fundamentally sound.”

The Lady Gators led 9-6 after the first quarter, pushing their lead to 21-10 at the break. Fredonia fought back in the second half, outscoring Allegany-Limestone, 13-10 in the third quarter, before coming all the way back to take the lead early in the fourth. “She played very well for them,” Martin said of Sysol. “She was tough. She really brought them back, because she scored eight of her 13 points in the fourth quarter.”

Abby Watson led the Lady Gators with 13 rebounds, adding 12 points and two blocks while Halee George poured in a game-high 15 points, adding seven rebounds.
