Winter festival treasure hunt medallion found

MAYVILLE – The 2013 Winter Festival Treasure Hunt Medallion has been found.

Congratulations go out to the winner of this event, who found the medallion at the Russell E. Diethrick, Jr. Park in Jamestown in an urn. The prizes, $100 cash plus a weekend stay at The Maple Inn, Chautauqua Institution (Sponsor of the Medallion Treasure Hunt this year), will be announced at the Festival this coming weekend.

Organizers would like to thank Taylor Lehman of Jamestown, a student at SUNY Fredonia and employed at Northwest Savings Bank in Mayville, and her grandmother, Janet Henderson of Busti for writing the treasure hunt clues this year. Here are the remaining clues that Taylor and her grandmother worked so hard on: Clue 9: “There are sport teams that visit from all over the place, They come here in the hope of getting a base; They travel here seeking to win at all cost; And they find new friends that will never be lost”; and Clue 10: “By now you have probably figured it out, Russell E. Diethrick, Jr. Park is the place no doubt, Save your money because a ticket is not needed, Find the medallion in an urn that’s yet to be seeded.”

Plan on coming to the Festival this weekend to find out who won and to enjoy this great annual event. Events will include a Snow Ball Dance at Lakeside Park Friday evening from 7-9 p.m., many activities and events for the whole family during the weekend, food and craft vendors, contests with cash prizes. Make sure to provide your own accessories for your snow creation for the Children’s Snowman/Animal Building Contest Sunday), expanded children’s activities, fireworks, bonfire, and much more.
