Forestville captures Class D title at Sectional Championships

CHEEKTOWAGA – The Forestville Lady Hornets bowling team beat the Silver Creek Lady Black Knights to win the Section 6 Class D Championship Thursday at Thruway Lanes.

Forestville finished 11th of 47 teams overall with 5,048 pins while Silver Creek finished second in Class D and 17th overall with a score of 4,914.

In the Class C championship, Fredonia finished 21st overall and second in the class with 4,793 pins. Tonawanda took the event with 5,136 pins.

Dunkirk finished with the second-best score among local schools, placing 15th with 4,985 pins. Jamestown claimed 19th overall with 4,856 pins and Gowanda took 31st with 4,398. Randolph finished 35th with 4,220 pins while Southwestern (3,713) and Frewsburg (3,542) took 40th and 42nd overall, respectively.

Sweet Home took the overall title by winning the Class A title with a score of 5,648, edging out Lockport by 46 pins. Maryvale claimed Class B with 5,445 pins while Lewiston-Porter finished second with 5,306.

Bridget Maisello of Lockport, Melanie Hannon of Maryvale, Haley Carroll of Williamsville South, Alexis Wade of Lewiston-Porter and Kayla Grey of Cattaraugus-Little Valley were named to the All-Section Team.

Thruway Lanes will host the Section 6 boys bowling championships today.
