Josephine Fijal, 81, of Dunkirk, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday morning, February 9, 2013, at Buffalo General Hospital, following a brief illness, with her family at her side. She was born in Fredonia, May 9, 1931, daughter of the late Charles and
Anna (Cupa) Ortolano. She was a past employee of CETA in Jamestown and a former office manager at Farrell Chrysler Plymouth Dodge and Hartley Ford of Fredonia. Josephine was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Dunkirk where she arranged flowers for Sunday services and special
occasions. She enjoyed painting, watching ice skating, pole vaulting and the NY Yankees. Surviving are her children Robert (Darletta) Fijal
of Warrensburg, MO., Daniel (Kathy) Fijal of Tucson, AZ., Susan (Mark) Stuczynski of Fredonia, 9 grandchildren Aaron (Knicki) Fijal, Jordan Fijal,
Abraham (Ariel) Fijal, Jacob Fijal, Daniella (Tim) Stiles, Joshua Fijal, Terra (Joseph) Grupa, Jennifer (Rick) Suhr, Matthew Stuczynski and 15
great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Sally Musso of Fredonia, a brother Charles (Sandy) Ortolano Jr. of TN and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Edward Fijal, a brother Casimer Orlando, and sisters Maria Ortolano and Delores Harris. Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o’clock at the First Baptist Church, 876 Central Avenue in Dunkirk.
