CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga Village Board recently discussed an arrangement to plow the Cassadaga Cemetery.
The village board was advised by its attorney it can plow the cemetery if it tells the highway superintendent to do so.
“Now we can do what we used to do legally,” Highway Supervisor Tom Fetter said.
Mayor LeeAnn Lazarony suggested the board send a letter to the cemetery association to determine when they will need plowing and to set up a line of communication.
“They are not asking for regular plowing. We just do it when it’s needed,” Fetter said.
The board passed the resolution to allow the highway department to plow the cemetery and agreed to send a letter. Lazarony reminded the board this arrangement is just a resolution not a contract.
The board also asked Fetter to keep a log of the amount of time the department spends plowing the cemetery.
The board also discussed changes to the Arkwright fire protection contract. Lazarony said the village’s attorney would take a look before action was made.
The board also decided to consult its attorney on a policy for excess equipment after receiving an offer on a roller.
Lazarony also reported receiving correspondence from the village’s health insurance company regarding a 17 percent increase.
The next regular village board meeting will be held Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. The board also rescheduled its budget meeting for Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. The board will also meet with Stearns and Wheeler Engineer Greg McCorkhill on Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
