Viola Kulpa, 96, formerly of Dunkirk, NY died Tuesday (Feb. 19, 2013) at the Absolut of Westfield.
She was born in Dunkirk on March 26, 1916, the daughter of the late Stanley and Casmiera (Wesolowski) Stryczek.
A resident of Dunkirk for most of her life, Mrs. Kulpa was a homemaker. She was a former employee of Van Raalte.
Mrs. Kulpa was a parishioner of Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish – St. Hyacinth’s Church.
Surviving are her son, Peter F. (Helen) Kulpa of Rochester, NY; her daughter, Marie Ganey of Dunkirk; grandchildren Peter (Linda) Ganey, Lynne (Michael) McQuiggan, James Ganey, Michael (Janice) Ganey, Lori Morrison, Jeffrey (Mollie McCowan) Ganey, Aaron (Sally Zack) Kulpa and Lee Kulpa; great-grandchildren Christopher Ganey, Court-ney Ganey, Brittany Ganey, Taylor Ganey, Joshua Ganey, Charlene (Joel) Biscaro, Joshua McQuiggan, Austin Ganey, Ashley Ganey, Nathan Ganey, Kevin Ganey, Nicholas Morrison, Katelyn Morrison, Taylor Matton and Jonathan Ganey; great great grand children Alexander Biscaro, Aubriana Biscaro and Bristol Ott; and sisters Frances Newman, Julia Stryczek and Martha Barreca. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Peter Kulpa, who died Nov. 19, 1994; brothers Matthew and Henry Stryczek; and sisters Joan Bruno, Josephine Shoemaker and Mary Geryck.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at 10 AM in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish – St. Hyacinth’s Church. Private interment will be in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Newman Funeral Home Inc. from 7-9 PM Thursday. Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the East Dunkirk Fire Department.
