Absentee ballots for voting are available in the Forestville Village Clerk’s Office, 18 Chestnut St., Forestville. There is a drop box for water bills and tax payments next to the clerk’s office outside door for the residents convenience.
Cassadaga Church to hold dinner and movie night Friday
The Cassadaga Commun-ity Baptist Church, located at 25 Maple Ave. in the village, will hold a dinner and movie night Friday in the Fellowship Hall. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and the movie will follow. This month’s movie is “Though None Go With Me,” with Cheryl Ladd. The dinner and movie are free, and open to everyone.
Gas prices rise
Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have risen 4.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.91/g Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 319 gas outlets in Rochester. This compares with the national average that has increased 11.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.68/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Rochester during the past week, prices Sunday were 13.2 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 24.8 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 42.2 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 16.7 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
Relay for Life Team Lucky 777 to hold chicken barbecue
Relay for Life Team Lucky 777 will host a Chiavetta’s Chicken Barbecue on March 3. It will be held at the First Ward Falcon Club on Lake Shore Drive in Dunkirk. It will run from noon until 5 p.m. Tickets are $8.50 and can be purchased by calling 366-7292 or 785-5190. Eat in or take out.
Deliveries can be made with the purchase of 10 or more and ordered by Feb. 24. There will be a silent auction. Drive through available. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Tax help is available
The Chautauqua County Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition will have two walk-in VITA sites open Saturday. Those locations will be at the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk, room 124-125, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the Westfield YWCA, 58 Portage St., Westfield from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
On Feb. 27, there will be one appointment only site from 4 to 7 p.m. at the United Way of Northern Chautauqua at 626 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Call 366-5424 for an appointment.
An IRS certified volunteer will prepare your taxes at no cost to you. All tax returns are filed electronically.
You must bring your social security card and picture identification with you. If you are filing married filing jointly, both spouses must be present to sign required forms.
