Local art studio plans contest
IRVING – The Eric Johnson Art Studio, located in Irving, is seeking talented Western New York high school students for two upcoming events.
The first is an art competition to be held May 25. It is open to all high school students. The entry fee is $10 for the first submission and $5 for each additional entry. First place prize is $100. Any additional proceeds will be donated to the winner’s school in the form of an art scholarship.
The second event is a mystery dinner theatre fundraiser to be held at the studio. High school student volunteers are sought to perform the play on June 7 and 8. No experience is needed but the student must be committed and available for practice. One-hundred percent of the proceeds will go to benefit The Runway to Hope Foundation.
The Runway to Hope Foundation is an Anti-Bullying program that utilizes non-medicated methods of psychological support to victims, bullies, and their families. Programs include music therapy, heliotherapy, and an after school club that educates students on sustainability and the promotion of creative talents. The Runway to Hope Foundation strives to build a unified educational atmosphere throughout Western New York. For more information, visit hateisugly.com.
