What started with 24 teams – 13 boys’ teams and 11 girls’ teams – is now down to seven, as the Section 6 high school basketball playoffs have reached the semifinals.
There are two boys games tonight, as No. 4 Fredonia (15-4) will square off against No. 1 Charter School for Applied Technologies (16-3) at 5:30 p.m., at Buffalo State. In Class D action, No. 1 Brocton (16-1) will look to get past No. 5 Ellicottville (9-10) at Jamestown Community College. The game is set to tip-off at 6 p.m.
With a win, the Hillbillies would face either No. 2 Cleveland Hill (17-1) or No. 3 East (13-6) on Saturday. That game would start at noon, at Buffalo State. The final will be played on Friday at JCC, at 5:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, No. 1 Silver Creek (19-0) will look to advance to Friday’s Class C-2 final at JCC – which is scheduled for 7 p.m. – but will have to get past No. 4 MST Seneca (12-7) in its semifinal. Like the final, the semifinal is set to be played at JCC. Game time is 6 p.m.
With a win in the semifinals, the Black Knights would take on either No. 3 Portville (17-2) – a team they beat twice this year – or No. 2 Maple Grove (18-1).
