Distance learning course offered at Westfield, Brocton, Cassadaga
and Silver Creek schools
Cool Things to Do with Your iPad, iPhone, and iPod, a non-credit distance learning course, will be offered from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
The course, conducted by Jamestown Community College, will be available at the Silver Creek, Cassadaga, Brocton and Westfield high schools. The cost is $15. To register, call 338-1005.
Participants will learn how to download useful, fun and inexpensive applications to their Apple devices.
Pistol permit opt-out forms available on county clerk’s website
Current pistol permit holders who would like to remove their names and addresses from the public record of pistol permit holders may do so by completing an exemption form and mailing to the pistol permit office at 3 N. Erie St., Mayville 14757.

Friends of Anderson-Lee Library will hold
mid-winter book sale
The Friends of Anderson-Lee Library are accepting donations for a mid-winter book sale Feb. 28 and March 1 and 2. All donations may be dropped off at the library in Silver Creek and will be accepted until Feb. 26. The sale will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, 12-5 on Friday, and 10-2 on Saturday. Paperbacks will sell for 50 cents and hard covers will sell for $1.
At this time, the group is not accepting encyclopedias, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, magazines, dictionaries, encyclopedias or any kind of textbook. These items do not sell and take up valuable space. Please be sure to only donate books that are clean and are free of rips and tears and musty odors. Dona-tions may be dropped off during operating hours. The library is open Monday and Tuesday, noon to 8 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds from the annual book sale are used to enhance library collections.
The Friends of Anderson-Lee Library is comprised of community members who support the library. Mem-bership is ongoing. More information about becoming a Friend of Anderson-Lee can be obtained by calling 934-3468 or by stopping at the library at 43 Main St. in Silver Creek.
CASA auction fundraiser Wednesday
The Chautauqua County Court Appointed Special Advocates will hold a live auction fundraiser at Unique Sales & Auctions Wednesday at 6 p.m.
The unique items will be available for preview and bids at the 170 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown. For the auction, bids will be taken in-house, online at uniquesalesandauctions.com, and via telephone at 484-4466.
This fundraiser will assist with the recruitment, training, and support for the volunteers. The CASA volunteer is the one consistent adult in the life of the child – the voice of the child – vigilantly fighting for and protecting the fundamental rights of the child to be treated with the dignity and respect – what every child deserves. The CASA will not only bring positive change to the lives of these vulnerable children, but also to their children and generations to come.

Bailey family benefit
A benefit will be held March 3 at 2 p.m. at the St. Stephen Hotel in Brocton. Proceeds will benefit the Bailey family, who lost their home and possessions in a house fire on Dec. 20. The event will include a $10 spaghetti dinner, raffles, live entertainment by Gina V. and the Barncats, Fallen Union and Felony Entertainment Karaoke. Tickets are available at the St. Stephen Hotel. Relay for Life Team Lucky 777 to hold chicken barbecue
Relay for Life Team Lucky 777 will host a Chiavetta’s Chicken Barbecue on Sunday. It will be held at the First Ward Falcon Club on Lake Shore Drive in Dunkirk. It will run from noon until 5 p.m. Tickets are $8.50 and can be purchased by calling 366-7292 or 785-5190. Eat in or take out. Deliveries can be made with the purchase of 10 or more and ordered by Feb. 24. There will be a silent auction. Drive through available. All proceeds will benefit to the American Cancer Society.
