One man injured in snowmobile accident

CHAUTAUQUA – Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the Mayville Fire Department, were called Friday to a personal injury snowmobile accident on Trail C4 between Hannum Road and Route 430.

Investigation showed James Weise was operating his snowmobile at 8:20 p.m. when he lost control, hit several trees and was ejected from the snowmobile.

Weise was transported to WCA Hospital for treatment of an arm injury.

PORTLAND – Her-bert Schultz, 47, of West-field was charged Sunday with driving while intoxicated common law, DWI per se with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher, failure to keep right and using a mobile phone while operating a motor vehicle. At 9:50 p.m., deputies allegedly observed Schultz fail to keep right on Finley Road. His vehicle was stopped and investigation led to the charges. Schultz will appear in the Portland Town Court.

SHERMAN – Arthur J. Reid Jr., 22, of Sherman, was taken into custody Fri-day on a bench warrant for failure to pay a fine for disorderly conduct. Deputies were on Lyons Road when a record check revealed the warrant out of the Westfield Village Court. Reid was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Westfield Court. He was remanded to the Chau-tauqua County Jail on $250 cash or $500 property bail.

MINA – An accident on Route 426 has resulted in three charges being placed against a Findley Lake woman. On Monday at 1:48 p.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of motor vehicle accident that resulted when 52-year-old Patti A. Smith allegedly drove off the west side of the road and struck a telephone pole head on.

Upon investigation, depu-ties charged Smith with driving over hazard markings, driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with blood alcohol content over .08 percent. Smith will answer the charges in Mina Court.
