All-Conference swimming and diving teams announced

CORTLAND – The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its all-conference swimming and diving teams on Tuesday.

In addition, Stephanie Andrasek broke a school record this past weekend at the SUNYAC Meet that was not previously reported. Andrasek’s time of 2:28.47 in the 200-yard breast stroke occurred late in the meet on Saturday and placed her in the Blue Devil annals.

The SUNYAC swimming and diving champions in each individual event earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team. The athletes who placed second and third in individual events are recognized on the All-Conference Second Team.

For the men, Ryan Fuller was named the Diver of the Meet and First Team all conference. He won both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. His score of 511.80 was a new SUNYAC Meet record.

Second Team honors went to John Estanislau and Rafael Santiago. Estanislau was second in the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly. He was part of three relay teams that finished well: 200 freestyle relay (second), 40 freestyle relay (third) and 200 medley relay (fourth).

Santiago was third in the 1-meter diving.

For the women, divers Ashley Keller and Sarah Ficarro were First Team. Ficarro won the 3-meter board, while Keller not only won the 1-meter board, but set a new conference mark, meet record and team record with a score of 485.35.

Andrasek, Emily Ginty, Katelyn Haley and Natalia Wilkins were named to the Second Team. Andrasek finished third in the 200 backstroke. She teamed up with Ginty on the third-place 400 medley relay team. Ginty was also on the 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams that finished fourth. Individually, she was third in the 200 backstroke.

Wilkins was second in the 400 IM and fourth in the 200 IM.

Haley was third off both the 3-meter and 1-meter diving boards.

The women’s team finished third at the conference meet, while the men finished second.

Women’s Basketball

Hebert, Warren tabbed All SUNYAC

CORTLAND – The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its Women’s Basketball All-Conference team on Tuesday. Fredonia State juniors Becky Hebert and Jaimie Warren were named to the squad.

Hebert was named Second Team for the second consecutive season. At 18.0 points per game, she led the SUNYAC in scoring for the second straight year and currently ranks 51st nationally. She was second in the conference in field-goal percentage (.425; 147 of 346) and free-throw percentage (.831; 113/136). She ranks 39th nationally in free-throw percentage. Hebert was named the SUNYAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week three times. She reached the 1,000-point plateau late this season and will head into her senior year with 1,064 career points.

Warren, a Third Team selection, was second on the Devils and fourth in the SUNYAC in scoring at 13.2 points per game. Warren led the Devils with 7.8 rebounds per game, 55 assists, 54 steals, 13 blocks and 32 three pointers. She led the conference in free-throw percentage and ranked 36th nationally, converting 76 of 91 opportunities for an 83.5 percent success rate. Warren was named the conference Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 28.
