Fourth Slush Rush 5K Sunday to aid scholarship fund at SUNY Fredonia
The fourth “Slush Rush” 5K race/walk to benefit the Xylia Peterson, ’85, Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held on Sunday at 9 a.m., at SUNY Fredonia. The event is open to students, faculty and staff, and community members.
Pre-registration is available online by visiting www.fredonia.edu/internationaleducation where there is a link to the “Slush Rush.”
SUNY Fredonia students may use their FredCards to register up until Friday, but must come to the International Education Office in LoGrasso Hall to do so.
Race Day registration is from 7:30 until 8:45 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the Williams Center. The race begins behind Steele Hall at 9 a.m.
Registration is $20 and includes a T-shirt, refreshments and raffle tickets.
The “Slush Rush” raises money for a scholarship for full time juniors and seniors who are international education students at SUNY Fredonia.
The race is in honor of Peterson, an alumna of Class of 1985 who passed away tragically in an automobile accident. She was an active member in the community and worked at Chautauqua Day Care, Lakeview Shock Incarceration and on the SUNY Fredonia campus.
The course for the race is certified, and official times will be available for all participants in the race. Medals will be awarded to a variety of age groups. There is a post-race party in the Williams Center.
