Board discusses Labor Day festivities

CASSADAGA – Although Labor Day is not until September, the Cassadaga Village Board is already making plans. The village board is looking for members to serve on the Labor Day Committee, according to Mayor LeeAnne Lazarony.

“(The village) has done something for Labor Day in the past,” she said.

Trustee Mike Lehnen said the committee will complete a list of local organizations that may be involved in the parade, including fire departments, veterans groups and local organizations. The board is asking any residents interested in serving on the committee, to contact a board member. A meeting will be held on March 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the village hall.

The village board also approved to switch waste disposal services to Beichner Disposal for the village, which is cheaper than current service Casella Waste Systems. Lehnen will also get price quotes for a privacy fence that will run along the property line behind the village fire hall.

“I like the look of the vinyl (fencing),” Lazarony said.

Lehnen will also look into fencing that will be placed at the village limits. This fencing will hold the various signs located at village limits. Motorists will see the signs as they drive into the village.
