Forestville absentee ballots available

Absentee ballots for voting are available in the Forestville Village Clerk’s Office, 18 Chestnut St., Forestville. There is a drop box for water bills and tax payments next to the clerk’s office outside door for the residents convenience.

Sheridan Historical Society fundraiser March 23

The Sheridan Historical Society announces its fundraiser for March 23 at the Sheridan Community Center. The main events are the spring auction, basket raffle and craft/baked goods sale. The society is seeking donations of items in good condition for the auction, especially furniture, household items, tools and collectibles (no appliances or clothes). All proceeds from this event fund the efforts of the Sheridan Historical Society to “cultivate a greater knowledge and appreciation of the history of Sheridan.” Anyone interested in donating items should call 672-2201 for more information.

Tickets for Fredonia musical on sale

Tickets are on sale for Fredonia High School’s musical “Thoroughly Mod-ern Millie.” The show will be presented March 15, 16, 22, and 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are at The Book Nook in the D&F Plaza and are $9 for adults and $6 for students/senior citizens.

Silver Creek students to be on ‘It’s Academic’ Saturday

Three Silver Creek students in Caitlin Kane’s AP social studies class recently competed in WGRZ’s “It’s Academic” trivia competition against Orchard Park and Sherman school district students. James Feldmann, Sarah Seitz and Michael Miller will appear in the televised competition on channel 2 WGRZ Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Brownie troop hosting reading hour at library on Thursdays in March

The Forestville Brownie Troop No. 20162 will be hosting a reading hour for children under 5 at the Anderson Lee Library in Silver Creek. The event will take place every Thursday in March at 4 p.m.

Brocton universal pre-k and kindergarten

registration next week

Brocton Elementary School will issue registration packets for students eligible for the universal pre-k and kindergarten classes for the 2013-14 school year from Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Along with the completed packets, a copy of a birth certificate, documented immunization records and proof of residency are required.

To be eligible for pre-k, children must turn 4 on or before Dec. 1, 2013. To be eligible for kindergarten, they must turn 5 on or be-fore Dec. 1, 2013. If there are questions, call 792-2100.

Round and Square Dance Saturday

A Round and Square Dance will be held at the Versailles Community Hall Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. with family pricing.

Music will be provided by Paul Zittel and Pure Country. Refreshments will be available.

Mike Ferguson to appear on Senior Report Saturday

Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Mike Ferguson as the guest on Saturday’s television program. Ferguson is the director of marketing for Merritt Winery. John Hamels will gust host the show. The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities. Reed Powers, host of Senior Report, has been producing the television program since 1995. The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest.

The guest is subject to change.

Senior Report is shown live Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering Brocton, Cassa-daga, Chautauqua, Fredo-nia, Mayville, North Har-mony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forest-ville, Hanover, Irving, James-town, Lakewood and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19.

The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.
