Third Buffalo man charged in city drug investigation

Another Buffalo man has been charged following an investigation into drugs in the city of Dunkirk.

Steven D. Douglas, 25, of Buffalo was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance on Monday by Dunkirk Police.

Douglas is the third Buffalo resident arrested in the last week for selling crack cocaine in the city.

A secret Chautauqua County Grand Jury had issued an arrest warrant after the grand jury heard the case brought by the County District Attorney’s Office based on information from the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

It is alleged that Douglas has sold quantities of crack cocaine to agents of the task force on numerous occasions in the city.

This culminates a three-month investigation into the sale of crack cocaine in the city.

Douglas was taken to the City of Dunkirk Jail, then transported to the Chautauqua County Jail where is being held pending arraignment.

Additional arrests are anticipated and the investigation is continuing.

The STRDTF is comprised of officers from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the Dunkirk Police Department. Authorities continue to ask members of the community to call either their local police or the task force whenever they observed drug-related activity within their community.
