Classical guitarist to perform in Jamestown
JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Concert Association will present Paul Galbraith, classical guitarist, on Friday at 8 p.m. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 410 N. Main St., Jamestown.
A resident of Switzerland, internationally renowned as a brilliant innovator of the classical guitar, Galbraith has been working since the 1980s towards expanding the technical limits of his instrument, besides augmenting the quantity and quality of its repertoire. These efforts have already resulted in a series of critically acclaimed recording of works by Bach, Haydn and Brahms, along with his own arrangements of folk tunes from various countries.
The evening’s program will consist of an array of classical and folk music.
There will be a free master class with Galbraith for any classical guitar players on Thursday in Fredonia. It is sponsored by JCA and the JCC Music Department. Call Jim Holler at Trinity Guitars, 665-4490, for more information.
Tickets for this concert are $20 adult and $17 senior, with a $2 discount for tickets purchased in advance. College students are $7.50. Students 18 and under are admitted free with a paid adult. Tickets may be purchased at the Reg Lenna Box Office, Chautauqua Music, Germaine & Pappalardo, Trinity Guitars and at the door.
