Fredonia bills to be added to property taxes

All Fredonia water/sewer bills that are delinquent after April 8 will be added to the 2013 village taxes. Tax bills are expected to be mailed by June 1, with payment due without penalty on or before July 1.

The property tax rate in the village, currently at $32.73 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, will be determined after the village board adopts its 2013-2014 budget.

The board must adopt a budget by May 1. The village’s fiscal year begins June 1.

Fredonia All Sports Booster Club Pancake breakfast Saturday

The Fredonia All Sports Booster Club will host a pancake breakfast at Apple-bees on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.

Sea Cadets Corps Spaghetti Dinner Saturday in Silver Creek

The United States Navy Sea Cadet Corps will hold the second annual Spaghetti Dinner at the Silver Creek VFW, 13 Main St., on Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. There will be a flag passing ceremony at 5 p.m.

The USNSCC is a non-for-profit youth organization raising funds to provide training opportunities for the cadets ages 10-18. It has cadets who live in Silver Creek, Dunkirk and Forestville.

Please come out and support our future soldiers. You can learn about the program and previous trainings the cadets have attended.

Petitions for Brocton Board of Education candidates due by no later than April 22

Petitions for candidates who wish to run for the board of education are available in the District Clerk’s office during regular working hours (7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.)

There are two at-large vacancies on the Board, currently held by Susan Hardy and David Hazelton.

Petitions are due back to the District Clerk no later than April 22.

Ripley School Board meeting Thursday

A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ripley Central School District will be held on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Distance Learning Room of the Ripley Central School, for the purpose of any and all items that come before the board.

Brocton Interact Club collecting new, gently used backpacks

The Brocton Interact Club is collecting new and gently used backpacks for Court Appointed Special Advocates throughout March. Backpacks are being collected at the Brocton Central School High School and Elementary School lobbies. For more information, contact Interact Advisor David Travis at 792-9791.

St. Patrick’s Day Party at Acquavia Post

The Frank Acquavia Post, a not-for-profit/tax exempt organization, is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight. Music will be provided by “Left of Center.” There will be food available, drink specials, raffles and 50/50 drawings. The event is open to the public.
