St. John’s Church announces results of chili cook-off

CATTARAUGUS – On March 10 at St. John’s Church in Cattaraugus, it may not have been chilly outside but inside it was very “chili.” While temperatures outdoors climbed to an unseasonable but welcome warmth, folks inside were enjoying a variety of savory chili and steaming bowls of soup.

Winners in the chili category in first, second and third place respectively included Walter Gunther with Three Bean Chili, Matthew Cobb with Matt’s Marvelous Chili, and Lucy Brown with Hearty Sausage with Chicken Chili.

Receiving the top three votes in the soup category were Edna Booth with Cheeseburger Soup, Ed Erhart with Baked Potato Soup, and Buffy Cole with Zuppa Toscana Soup.

The $600 raised will be split between the Cattaraugus Free Library as well as a donation to a young man facing extensive medical expenses.

The members of St. John’s Church wish to thank everyone who turned out to support this event and gave so generously.

It is their prayer that the blessing they gave be returned to them a hundred-fold.
