OBSERVER Staff Reports

The 28th annual Northern Chautauqua County Youth Hockey Association (NCCYHA) Lake Shore Savings Invitational Tournament continued play Friday night and into Saturday at the Steele Hall Ice Arena. The event wraps up with six games today, including the Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam championship games.


Game 10

Squirt Division

NCCYHA Steelers 6, Erie Lions 1

Zach Korzeniewski’s two goals led the Steelers while Ethan Brunner scored a goal and two assists. Gabe Schrader, Hunter Hehir and Cooper Harris all lit the lamp for NCCYHA. Jack Strom, Jack Swanson, Jonathan Maternowski and Schrader also added assists.

George Woods scored the lone goal for the Lions.

Game 11

Squirt Division

Jamestown Lakers 8, Aurora Ice 1

Trenton Shutters tallied a hat trick and recorded an assist in a Laker win while William Turner added a goal and two assists.

Cooper Spielman, Callum Smith and Jack Brinkley all found the net for Jamestown. Spielman, Shutters, Chase Jones, Zachariah Padd and Brinkley provided assists.

Christopher Keller provided the Ice with a goal while Thomas Wlodarczyk assisted.

Game 12

Pee Wee Division

West Seneca Wings 5,

NCCYHA Steelers 3

Connor Finnegan, Mark Norby, Luke Pukalo, Taylor Robinson and Max Dobrick each scored a goal for the Wings. Matthew Pitiss, Daniel Maywalt, Ryan Balys and Pukalo all added assists.

Carter D’Agostino scored two goals for the Steelers in a losing effort while Owen Nicosia recorded a goal and two assists. Michael Persch and Cassandra Essek were credited with an assist each.

Game 13

Midget Division

NCCYHA Steelers 4, Hamburg Hawks 4

Dean Campese scored two goals and Dylan Munson added a goal and two assists to lead the Steelers into a tie with the Hawks. David Woloszyn tallied a goal and an assist for NCCYHA while Michael Paradis recorded two assists.

David Held lit the lamp twice for Hamburg. Wil Scherer and Charlie Lauria also found the net while Nick Shuskie, Peter Errington, Jacob Santa Lucia and Zach Mangus provided an assist each.

Game 14

Midget Division

Bud Bakewell Bruins 2, Cheektowaga Warriors 2

Tim Kelly and Kyle Niemiec scored a goal each for the Bruins while Kyle Ciehomski added the lone Bud Bakewell assist.

Thomas Mitri and Jacob Miller recorded a goal each for the Warriors while Brandon Kindzierski and Brandon Seifert provided assists.

Game 15

Bantam Division

NCCYHA Steelers 7, Hamburg Travel 1

Matthew Johnson scored a hat trick and added two assists while Nicholas Walter provided a goal and three assists in a Steeler win. Michael Meredith tallied a goal and two assists for NCCYHA while Michael Szalkowski and Devin Drummond found the net for the Steelers. Stephen Formanowicz recorded an assist.

Alex Wirfel claimed the lone Hamburg Travel goal while Matthew Bartocz and Ryan Thompson added assists.

Game 16

Squirt Division

Jamestown Lakers 3,

Erie Lions 2

Spielman scored a goal and an assist in a victorious effort for the Lakers while Smith and Turner lit the lamp. Devin Wolfe led Jamestown with two assists while Jones added another.

J.J. George and Dominic Kaiser scored goals for the Lions.

Game 17

Pee Wee Division

Hamburg Travel 2, NCCYHA Steelers 1

Jordan Rusin scored a goal and an assist to lead Hamburg Travel in a victorious effort. Jared Milley added a goal while Andrew Lazarus and Joseph Argy tallied assists.

D’Agostino scored the lone NCCYHA goal off a Zachary Rybak assist.

Game 18

Pee Wee Division

West Seneca Wings 4, Jamestown Lakers 1

Dobrick recorded two goals and an assist while Taylor Robinson added a goal and two assists for the Wings. Daniel Maywalt scored the other West Seneca goal while Pukalo and Pitiss added assists.

Mitchell Pescarella scored the lone Jamestown goal off a Kole Maytum assist.

Game 19

Squirt Division

NCCYHA Steelers 5,

Aurora Ice 3

Brunner scored two goals and two assists while Ikaika Wojcinski added two goals and an assist in a Steeler victory. Lauren Marshall lit the lamp and provided an assist while Alexander Rush added an assist of his own.

Bjorn Nordenflycht found the net twice for the Ice and Gary Harkiewicz added a goal of his own. Michael Pereson provided an assist.

Game 20

Bantam Division

Hamburg Select 4,

Hamburg Travel 2

Nathan Mann scored two goals to lead Hamburg Select past their hometown counterparts. Alex Vasiloff added a goal and an assist while Mike Boyd scored a goal. Noah Klumpp added an assist.

Bryan Solinski and Jacob Hangen scored the two Hamburg Travel goals while Austin Kennedy, Jeremy Marszelek, Josh Shamberger and Matt Songin provided assists.


Game 8

Midget Division

NCCYHA Steelers 5,

Bud Bakewell Bruins 3

Kevin Ganey scored four goals while Szalkowski added two assists in a victorious effort for NCCYHA. Munson scored the other Steeler goal while Paradis, J.J. Ludwig, Ryan Meredith, Billy Whitcher and Woloszyn provided assists.

Kevin Rechlin scored a goal and an assist for Bud Bakewell while Kelly and Tyler Stickles also found the net. Matt Ellsworth and Dominic LoVallo recorded assists for the Bruins.

Game 9

Midget Division

Hamburg Hawks 5, Cheektowaga Warriors 2

Wes Ireland scored two goals while Patrick Cooley added a goal and two assists in a Hawk victory. Held and Danny Greenan also found the net for Hamburg while Anthony Peters, Ryan Southworth, Greenan and Lauria provided assists.

Adam Mikolajczyk scored a goal and an assist for Cheektowaga while Sam Batt also lit the lamp. Miller and Alex Weigold provided assists.
