Frank R. Kruszynski

Frank R. “Mike” Kruszynski, 87, of Dunkirk, NY and Clearwater, Florida, died, Saturday, March 9, 2013, peacefully at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, following a brief illness, with his loving family at his side. Frank was born March 21, 1925, in Dunkirk, son

of the late Frank and Mary (Grupa) Kruszynski. A graduate of Dunkirk Senior High School. A veteran of WWII, serving with the US Army as a S/Sgt from 1943-46 in both the European and Pacific Theaters. He received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, European African

Middle Eastern Services Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Retired A & P Store as Manager after 37 years, also retired from Tops Markets and Dunkirk Public School System. His memberships include Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig and St. Michael’s R. C. Church in Clearwater Florida. Past president of Sheridan Seniors, also past

President of Amalgamated Meat Cutter Union, and past President of the CSEA Dunkirk Public Schools Unit 6306 Union. He loved to spend time with his family, friends and especially his great-grandsons, also traveling with his wife and family. Frank enjoyed playing

poker with his friends and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Surviving is his wife of 64 years Mildred E. (Maternowski) Kruszynski whom

he married January 15, 1949 at the former Sacred Heart R. C. Church, a daughter Shelley (Rick) Jakubowicz of Fredonia,

daughter-in-law Lauri (Reel) Kruszynski of Jacksonville, Fla., sister Evelyn “Blinky” Snyder, grandchildren Jason Jakubowicz,

Jaime (Ryan) Mourer both of Fredonia, Victoria Wilcher of Florida, step grandchild Kyle Spence, great-grandchildren Riley and Shane Mourer, Jasmine Wilcher, step great-grandchild Ellie Spence, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in addition to

his parents is his son Michael Kruszynski who died in 2007, sisters Marge Szuromi and Dorothy Banach. A Memorial mass of

Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning, March 23 at Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig at 11

o’clock. Interment will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Dunkirk & Fredonia Meals on Wheels, 314 Central Avenue, Dunkirk or the RO Foundation c/o Northern Chautauqua Community, 212 LSDW, Dunkirk, NY 14048. Arrangements are by the
