The 28th Annual NCCYHA Invitational Hockey Tournament – sponsored by Lake Shore Savings Bank – wrapped up Sunday, with three divisions deciding champions.
Pee Wee Division
Hamburg Hawks 4, Jamestown Lakers 1
Brian Pienta scored a pair of goals for the Hawks in the first period and they never looked back, dropping the Lakers, 4-1. Jared Milley added another goal in the first for Hamburg while Benjamin Coozens scored in the third.
Cade Poston scored the Lakers’ lone goal in the second period, on an assist from Tyler Lampert.
Joseph Argy picked up a pair of assists in the win for the Hawks while Brian Beck was also credited with a helper.
Bantam Division Semifinal
Hamburg Hawks (Hughes) 4, Hamburg Hawks (Mecca) 3
Jacob Hangen scored a pair of goals in the win for Hawks (Hughes) while Devin Doyle added a goal and an assist.
Bryan Stolinski netted the Hawks (Hughes) other goal, with assists going to Alex Wirfel and Josh Shamberger.
Matt Niles, Nathan Mann and Alex Vasiloff scored for the Hawks (Mecca) with assists going to James Wittmeyer, Josh Yetman, Vasiloff and Mann.
Jamestown Lakers 3, NCCYHA Steelers 2
The Lakers received goals from William Turner, Trenton Shutters and Chase Jones in their 3-1 win over the Steelers. Assists went to Zachariah Padd, Turner and Callum Smith.
For the Steelers, Ethan Brunner and Alex Rush scored while Nick Frazier was credited with an assists.
Pee Wee Division Championship Game
Hamburg Hawks 5,
West Seneca Wings 3
Jared Milley scored a pair of goals in helping the Hawks win the Pee Wee Division.
Also scoring for Hamburg were Jordan Rusin, Nathan Sylvester and Joseph Argy while assists went to Ryan Coffman, Brian Pienta, Mitchell Harman, Sylvester and Argy.
For the Wings, Daniel Maywalt, Taylor Robinson and Max Dobrick scored with assists credited to Mark Narby and Dobrick.
Bantam Division Championship Game
NCCYHA Steelers 4, Hamburg Hawks (Hughes) 2
Matthew Johnson had a pair of goals and an assist in the Steelers’ title game win over the Hawks.
Also for the Steelers, Nicholas Walker and Christopher Buchanan (assist) tallied goals while assists went to Michael Szalkowski (three) and Michael Meredith. Joseph Caine picked up the win in net.
For the Hawks (Hughes), Alex Wirfel and Jacob Hangen scored while assists went to Matthew Bartosz and Joshua Shamberger.
NCCYHA Steelers 4,
Bud Bakewell Bruins 0
Kevin Ganey and Dylan Munson scored first-period goals and the Steelers earned the Midget Division title, 4-0.
Riley Harris scored in the second and Josh Veloski (assist) in the third for the Steelers while Michael Paradis added an assist in the win.
