Youth Swimming

Hammerhead Swim Club

On the weekend of March 14-19, nine Hammerhead Swim Club swimmers competed and took 22nd place out of 58 participating swim clubs at 2013 Niagara LSC Short Course Gold Championship Meet held at the Webster Aquatics Club in Webster.

Throughout the four-day meet, Hammerhead swimmers recorded two second-place, two third-place, 46 top 20 finishes and 27 personal best times achieved at the meet.

The 1,000 freestyle and all events for the 10 and under age group were timed finals. Swimmers ages 11 and older who finished in the top 20 places in the preliminary round qualified for finals and competed again each evening.

Announcements

First Annual Hillbilly Baseball Clinic

The first Hillbilly Baseball Clinic will take place on Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. until noon, at the Fredonia Central School. All participants are asked to enter the High School by the cafeteria.

The clinic will be open to boys and girls aged 7-12. The clinic will be divided into smaller age groups upon arrival. All participants are asked to wear gym shoes and to bring their own gloves. Participants will be allowed to bring their own bats and catcher’s equipment and are asked to label all of their own gear.

The Fredonia baseball coaching staff, including head coach Vince Gullo, will conduct the clinic, which will include two gyms, an indoor batting cage and indoor pitching mounds. The clinic will focus on hitting, throwing, infield and outfield defense and base running. Pitching and catching instruction will also be available.

The fee is $20 per participant, and $15 for each additional participant from the same family. Each participant will receive a Fredonia baseball T-shirt and water bottle.
