Lakeshore Humane Society Pet Adoption Day/Open House set

The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a Pet Adoption Day/Open House at its Adoption Center Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk.

Meatloaf Dinner Saturday in Dewittville

The Dewittville-Hartfield United Methodist Church will host a Meatloaf Dinner Saturday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Along with meatloaf, the $7 donation includes mashed potatoes/gravy, vegetable, dessert and beverage. The church is on Route 430 at Meadows Road in Dewittville.

Gowanda’s Slovenian Club to hold large Indoor Yard Sale

The Slovenian Club, 36 Palmer St. in Gowanda, will host its 3rd annual Indoor Yard Sale with many vendors and bargain treasures for all Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be a bake sale and lunch items will be available.

Literacy Volunteers to hold book sale

The Literacy Volunteers will hold a book sale Satur-day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 21 E. Bookstore at 21 E. Second St. in Dunkirk. Shoppers are asked to use the Washington Street en-trance. Paperbacks will be sold for .50, hardcovers $1, unless otherwise marked. All proceeds help the Liter-acy Volunteers promote literacy in the community.

South Dayton Daffodil Festival Saturday

South Dayton will hold its Daffodil Festival Satur-day in the South Dayton Firemen’s Activity Hall at 34 Maple St. There will be a craft show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A dessert contest will be held with registration from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., with judging at 10 a.m. Contest rules dictate that desserts must contain at least one of the following: orange, bana-na, lemon, pineapple, maple syrup or chocolate. Desserts must be submitted in a non-returnable container with a copy of the recipe. There are two divisions: adults and children 16 and under.

The Easter Bunny will be at the firehall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a chicken and biscuit meal will be available for $7 for adults and $5 for children. “Tim the Tuneman” will play from 1 to 3 p.m., and an Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 10 a.m. in the village park for children (toddlers to sixth grade).

Fredonia Place Bake Sale for Relay for Life scheduled Saturday

The Fredonia Place Bake Sale for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life will be held in the main lobby, 50 Howard St., Fredonia, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds will go to the organization. For more information, contact team captain Brittany at 679-2250.

Jim Subjack to appear on Senior Report

Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Jim Subjack as the guest on Saturday’s television program. Subjack is an attorney and will discuss eldercare. The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities. Reed Powers, host of Senior Report, has been producing the television program since 1995. The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest.
