Sheridan Historical Society auction today

The Sheridan Historical Society is holding a spring auction and basket raffle today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the community center. All profits will go to the historical society.

Free Kidz Nite Out tonight

The Family Martial Arts Center, located at 355 Central Ave, Suite 10, Fredonia is holding its monthly free Kidz Nite Out event to all community children ages 6-18 today, from 6-8 p.m.

Children will make crafts, watch “Wreck It Ralph,” play games such as dodgeball, balance and coordination challenges, tag and more.

Other participating businesses include Dunkin’ Donuts, Family Video and Rent-A-Center of Dunkirk.

There are many adult supervisors and youth assistants. All participants must have a legal guardian sign a release form. The Boys and Girls Club and several churches will be supporting these events.

Fredonia Cable Board seeking new board members

On March 7, the Fredonia Cable Access committee (Fredonia Time Warner channels 5 and 17) and Village Attorney Sam Drayo discussed in detail the upcoming renewal of the Cable Access contract, which expires in April, along with new programming at its monthly meeting.

Residents interested in becoming committee members or submitting information for the Community Bulletin Board should contact the board at The next Fredonia Cable Access meeting is scheduled for April 11 at 7 p.m. in the community room in the basement of the Fredonia Village Hall.

Sheridan blood drive Wednesday

The Sheridan Memorial Field Association is sponsoring a Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Sheridan VFW Post 6390, 2556 Route 20, Sheridan. Walk-ins are welcome or call 1-800-733-2767 to schedule an appointment.

Individuals who are at least 17 years old (16 with parental permission), weigh at least 110 pounds, and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Proper ID is required.

Portland fire board to meet Monday

The Board of Commissioners of the Portland Fire District will be holding a special meeting of the board to discuss and adopt the following policies and any other business that may come before the board: Social Media Policy and Disability Policy on Monday at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the Portland Fire Hall, 6481 West Main St. Portland. This meeting is open to the public.
