Fredonia Rotary Students of the Month for December

The Fredonia Rotary Students of the Month for December are John Ludwig and Tyler Cassidy.

Ludwig is the youngest son of John and Lori Ludwig of Fredonia. He has attended Fredonia Central School since kindergarten. He has been played hockey for nine years and is the alternate captain on his varsity hockey team. It is his fourth year participating in Mock Trial. Ludwig is currently employed by Vineyard Falls Miniature Golf and is a lifeguard at Shorewood Country Club. He plans to attend SUNY Maritime after graduation and major in marine transportation.

Cassidy is the son of Dan and Amy Cassidy. He is a senior at FHS and ranks within the top 10 percent of his grade. He also participates in the 3-1-3 program at SUNY Fredonia.

Cassidy has enjoyed a successful athletic career to date. He has been on several football teams with unbeaten seasons and recently went to sectional playoffs at Ralph Wilson Stadium with one of his teams. He has been on the varsity wrestling team since eighth grade. He was a member of the state championship team in 2010-11 and recently recorded his 100th pin. That makes Cassidy one of only eight people in Western New York history to reach that mark. He is also a member of the track team as a half-mile runner. He placed second at sectionals two years ago with a time of 4:32.

Outside of athletics, Cassidy is a member of the National Honor Society and volunteers with the United Way. He has also begun to volunteer with the Soup of the Fly kitchen, which is Fredonia’s student-run business. He is currently employed by the village as a helper with Fredonia Youth Wrestling and he works for FSA at SUNY Fredonia over the summer.

After high school, he plans to attend college.
