Thule Lodge receives annual historical report

BEMUS POINT – John Sipos serves as the historian for the Thule Lodge #127 of the Jamestown/Bemus Point area. Thule Lodge is located at 4123 Pancake Hill Road, and serves to preserve the Swedish heritage through events and activities. Thule Lodge is now into its 106th year in this area. Sipos has served as the lodge historian for more than 12 years.

During the past year, Sipos kept records and photographs of activities and events of the lodge. At a recent meeting of the lodge members, Sipos presented a notebook of records, photographs and news articles of the lodge to the 2013 lodge chairman Jeff Anderson, and immediate past chairman Ralph Veights. Chairman Anderson is beginning his term as the lodge leader. Thule Lodge member Susan W. Sipos, who has been a member of the lodge for more than 28 years, is a computer artist, and created the cover and the title page of the historical book, incorporating many Swedish events.

Thule Lodge began as a social organization for the Swedish immigrants, and is a part of the New York District #4, and the international VASA organization. New members are always welcome.

The annual historical booklet of photographs and records of the Thule Lodge #127 was recently presented to the officers of the lodge. Pictured, left to right, are Ralph Veights, immediate past chairman; Jeff Anderson, 2013 lodge chairman; and historian John Sipos.
